Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg recently appointed English gaffer Steve McClaren as the new head coach of the Wolfe and the former Twente boss revealed his ambitions for next term during his official presentation on Wednesday.
"Wolfsburg were league champions in 2008-09 and only finished eighth in the table this term. That has been a huge disappointment for the club," said McClaren in the press conference.
"It's now up to me to lead Wolfsburg in the right direction again. A club like Wolfsburg should play in Europe and it's our target to qualify for European football again next season."
McClaren also took the time to discuss the situation of star player Edin Dzeko, who is continually being linked with a move away from the club.
"He's a world class striker and we don't want to lose him. We're fighting tooth and nail to keep him. If we want to be successful we have to keep our best player, as every team does."
